Tourism :: Tips for Trips ::
This fishing fortress town lies in the south-east of the region. The tradition of fish farming in Peitz – particularly the farming of the Peitzer Carp- has been famous even beyond the region’s boundaries. This is the largest cultivated pond area in Europe. The year’s Carp Harvest can be admired during The Fisher Festival in August.

In close proximity to the ponds is the Ironworks Museum. In the 16th Century the surface iron ore from the surrounding area was used to manufacture munitions for the nearby fortress. This stronghold can be seen from far and wide.
